Steel versus aluminum in Florida

• Steel is significantly stronger and heavier, which is why it is used for large driveway gates and any fence that has to resist impact.
• Steel will rust if the coating is compromised. We use galvanized substrate with a baked powder coat and touch-up kits, and we advise on maintenance honestly.
• Aluminum is the better call for pool fencing, irrigation-soaked yards and anywhere maintenance is not going to happen.

Is real wrought iron still available?

True hand-forged wrought iron is rare and expensive. What the industry sells as wrought iron today is welded ornamental steel, which is stronger and more consistent. We can source genuine forged work for restoration projects on request.

How do I stop steel fence from rusting in Florida?

Start with galvanized substrate and a quality powder coat, keep irrigation heads from spraying directly onto the fence, and touch up any chip from a mower or trimmer the week it happens. Rust starts at breaks in the coating, not through it.

Can you match an existing fence or gate?

Yes. Send photos and measurements and we will fabricate matching panels or a matching gate. This comes up often on older Ocala properties where a section was damaged.

How long does a custom gate take?

Typically four to eight weeks from approved drawing to installation, depending on size, finish and operator. Standard panel fencing is much faster.
